Day 145: Tree Pod of Color

I've been pretty lazy at posting... but have still been creating. So today I'll be posting the last 4 days' creations!

For Day 145... I found a pod in a tree and took it back to my office with me and snapped a picture. I like how the shapes of natural things create such interesting lines. Here's a little play with lines and color using the little tree pod. (I don't know what kind of tree it's from, but my dad might.)

Day 7: Adding Color with Illustrator

Used Illustrator (CS5 baby) to add color. I still struggle with Illustrator and "illustration" and how to use it with layers and pieces and separating parts. I seem to use it fine for logo design and other vector art needs, but not illustration. hmmmm.... In the long run I like that Illustrator produces vectors and scalable items, but part of me thinks I might just illustrate via pen and Photoshop and then if I need a vector, convert it. OK—enough with the design speak! (Anyone have thoughts on this process... comment, please.)

Here's my earthtone Deer Tile—looking oh so sweet. (And the .gif web colors palette that I liked, too, cause I'm a geek like that!)

Day 6: Sketchwork Tiles (for more creativity later)

About a year ago I went to Arizona with my husband's family for a short vacation. There were tiles in the house we stayed at that I took pictures of because I loved their simplicity and "desert uniqueness." Inspired by these tiles, I sketched these out today: One of clover (green for a "wee" St. Patty's tribute) and one of a deer in the snow after a picture my friend took while she was visiting Denver this winter. The tiles in the house in Arizona are at the bottom.

I plan to do some more with these sketches soon.
