Day 126: A Green, Finger-Painted, Bird Monster

I won an iPad in a contest a while back. It has been one of the most fun things to use—there is always something new to learn or do on it. Like ArtStudio—it's a quite robust app that allows for drawing. I used my fingers, but I assume a stylus would make it more precise. So on a drive up the mountains (sitting in the passenger seat ;) I played around with ArtStudio for the first time. It's a lot of fun. I hope to do more...

Here is the green monster I created. (Hmm. Green monsters seem to be some type of weird theme.)

Day 123: Saving the Life of a Dragonfly

Tonight I found a dragonfly trapped in our garage door light fixture. I heard him/her buzzing around and knew I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if I didn't try to rescue it. So I got up on a ladder and found a way to open it up and it flew out only to go directly toward the light bulbs in the back of the garage. So I scrabbled over and turned all the lights off and I heard its wings buzz loud and the softly away into the dimly lit outdoors. Ah, it was saved!

However, about 30 minutes after I did this, the most torrential downpour—a massive, rain, thunder, and lightening storm—started. So not sure I saved its life. I could have sent it into the wild world of chaotic rain. Here's to hoping he/she made it - a little homage to my dragonfly.

Day 53: Super Zoomed Digital Pixels

I love zooming into digital pictures. Sometimes I do it when designing just as a relief to my eyes from looking at a certain image for while. A kind of "reset" and suddenly there are entirely new pictures, creations, little stained-glass windows right there... here's a few:

Day 20: More Digital Visualizations

So, from my link to Dreamlines yesterday, I kept playing and came up with all of these. These creations inspire new ideas. Mr. Leonardo Solaas, thanks for creating such a creative tool. (There's also a doodl application that is similar and allows for uploading personal pics, too, if you want to try it. And a flickr group for all the photos.)

Day 18: Anniversary

Today is my husband's and my 8th anniversary.

A few years ago I created these images for him using a data/word logorithm visualization tool. Each one utilized words and then created shapes and colors based on the letters and words in the phrases. I can't find the tool that I used to create these. The tool is Dreamlines. The Solaas site has many more fun ‘new media art’ and 'data visualization' tools.

So I was looking for something similar and searched for "data visualization," "logarithmic art," "logarithmic image creator." I couldn't find what I was looking for, but I did find a lot of other cool graphic visualization stuff (for example, this, and this (<---WeFeelFine... really wild), and this.) There's even some really geeky programming tools that can help you build this kind of stuff yourself (ie. Processing).

So with Abstract01js I created this burst of fireworks, life, and color for today in celebration of our anniversary! Here's to many, many more Adam.

Day 3: Think Woman, Think!

So a while back (like 2-3 years ago) I did some "photoshop sketching" - just messing around. And I drew this "Think Man" (bottom picture). Since then I've always thought about creating a "Think Woman" as well. Here she is... Day 3 of creating! I simply sketched these in Photoshop with several selected brushes and layers.
